The CASA Story

The Co-educational Anglican Schools Association (CASA) — formerly known as the New Anglican Schools Sports Association (NASSA) — is a group of eight independent co-educational Anglican schools that compete in sporting fixtures within the Association of Independent Co-Educational Schools (AICES).

For students who are athletically driven, competing in CASA events and gala days is considered the first step in their sporting pathway. They may then look to compete in NSW Combined Independent Schools (NSWCIS) competitions and further representative opportunities.

The presidency of CASA is held by the principal of the host school, which rotates regularly among member schools. The position is currently held by Geoff Lancaster, Principal at St Luke’s Grammar School. The current CASA Executive Officer is Jennifer Lowe.

Pathways

Through Co-educational Anglican Schools Association (CASA) events, many students experience their first step in representative sport. At this crucial stage, participation and enjoyment in a supportive environment is a key priority.

Primary Sport

For our youngest athletes, after competing in CASA carnivals and gala days representing their school, the next step is to compete in NSW Combined Independent Schools (NSWCIS) championships, followed by NSWPSSA events. Students can then be selected to represent NSW at their respective School Sport Australia Championships.

Secondary Sport

For secondary athletes, after competing in CASA carnivals and gala days representing their school, the next step is to represent their school and CASA in Association of Independent Co-Educational Schools (AICES) events. From here, the representative pathway continues to NSW Combined Independent Schools (NSWCIS) competitions and eventually NSW All Schools and the respective School Sport Australia Championships.
